In 2018 Maxim founded Standard Power and was its CEO. Standard Power is an industrial development company that focuses on developing retired industrial facilities on brownfields across the United States into advanced data center campuses. The projects create local jobs and economic welfare in areas that would otherwise struggle to attract investment and include the redevelopment of a retired paper mill in Coshocton, Ohio, a retired coal fired power plant in Conesville, Ohio, and a behind-the-meter partnership with Energy Harbor to develop a data center campus within the grounds of their Beaver Valley nuclear generation facility. Standard Power is in the process of developing over 2,700 megawatts of data center infrastructure across its sites. Leveraging the success of Standard Power Maxim has founded Cybernetic Intelligence, a company focusing on vertically integrated compute systems for Classified level data centers. Cybernetic Intelligence is developing sites in Maryland, Virginia, Bulgaria, and Bahrain totaling more than 5 GWs in planned compute capacity.

Maxim graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and has received his Master of Arts in Economics from American University in Washington D.C.
